To Whom It May Concern
Alicia du Toit has been the nanny of our 5 year old daughter Garance for 14 months, working a minimum of about 40 hours a week.
Alicia’s responsibilities included ensuring Garance’s well being and development as well as general housekeeping ranging from cooking and light cleaning to weekly shopping and other various errands.
We found Alicia to be an excellent nanny.
She is extremely reliable and serious but also very friendly and comes across as a happy and balanced person.
Alicia demonstrated a lot of common sense and a stimulating sense of fun in the relationship she established with Garance.
She was creative in planning varied and suitable activities and was proactive in organizing games and setting up play dates with Garance’s school mates.
She therefore greatly cultivated Garance’s development and kept her entertained and stimulated all day whilst putting in place a daily routine which respected both child’s and parents’ needs.
She also educated her showing consistency in her attitude towards her and firmness when required.
She was very loving with Garance and displayed a lot of kindness and patience towards her.
Needless to say, she is dearly loved by the child!
Alicia is a very efficient housekeeper, being tidy and punctual.
She proved to be a great cook and displayed a lot of creativity and initiative in her cooking.
She is also a reliable and sage driver.
Alicia constantly displays both flexibility and adaptability and seemed very much at ease in what was for her a doubly foreign environment working for French people in a British context.
She also managed the sensitivities which can be associated with working in someone’s home very well, being both discrete and trustworthy.
She established a great relationship with us and was rigorous about keeping us informed of the day’s events and of Garance’s progress.
Alicia made a great contribution to all our lives and is highly regarded by all who have in contact with her in the course of her work for us, be it teachers at Garance’s school, friends’ parents or our neighbors.
We understand her decision to go back to South Africa but are very sorry to see her go.
We wish her to best and have no doubt she will be successful in whatever career she decides upon.
